Letters to Kamal Sigdel @@@@@@¨¨μ•ΆŒπ—¬@‚s‚n‚o

Hi,Sigdel!

I read your writing about world peace. And I thought Nepal is a peace-loving nation Japanese also love peace. In fact, all people in the world desire peace. However there are some battles among various countries yet. It is sad that neighboring countries fight. They don't learn from history. There never is a good battles.

Today many people can communicate easily like us even if they don't live in same country. It is good to think and talk or write about world peace each other.

Anyway I thought you were good writer. I am not good at summing up. But you have been able to explain history of war and battles easily in English.

I agree with you that we all should put our efforts for the world peace. Peaceful environment should be created for all. And for maintaining the world-peace we all should develop the concept of brotherhood.

Thank you.

(A.U.)
I was impressed that you know many things about world history. I think you study hard. Although English is not your mother tongue, you wrote very well. I must study English as well as you. I will mention agreeable and disagreeable points.

In the first place, there is no disagreement on this point that World War ‡Tand‡Uwere terrible. I have only limited information on these wars, but I was horrified when I read books on wars or when I saw pictures. When it comes to war, atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki come across my mind firstly. Atomic bomb take precious lives and wealth away for a moment, distress people for a long time. It is not exaggeration to say that atomic bomb is the biggest mistake that human beings made.

I live in Nagasaki now, 55 years later after World War ‡U, there are many people suffer from aftereffect. I met a bomb victim and he talked about World War ‡U. He is Korean and came to Japan for the purpose of work. When bombs were dropped, he escaped death only by a miracle and ran into air-raid shelter but he was send out only because of Korean. Does war change human beings into devil? I was sad because I knew ugliness of mankind. In the peace park near the center of the explosion, there are many bouquets every time I go. In the park, many statue of liberty from a line and express wishes for worldly peace. In addition, we are apt to mention only war when it comes to peace. But you wrote economic problems, was very good. I would be untrue to say that we are in p peace if only there is no war and war is not always opposite to peace.

In the second place, I will point out some your opinions. Indeed, peace is very important for many people all over the world and we must have concept of human love but this view is quite unsatisfactory. These things are easier than done, you know. We can't change anything if only we put into practice. In order to stop war, we shouldn't use military force. To solve economic problems, developed countries must support poor countries. We have to give them not only economic and medical aid but also military and government aid.

(A. Y.)
I read yours, kamal sigdel's essay on world peace for 21st century.I was deeply impressed with it. It's perfect.

The essay said that people of all the world should develop the concept of brotherhood. that's all right. Men are created equal, and everyone has the right to live on happily. As it is,the gap between rich and poor is still very wide in this world.

I think that the United Nations should make every effort for poor countries more, and we should cooperate with them as much as possible. It's important to learn this world more.

You wrote about war. There is a deeply relation between peace and war. War is the most dreadful thing in the world:kill many people, destroy many buildings.

Today, people must avoid a nuclear war. An atomic bomb brings unbelievable loss of life, because.

The government of the U.S. used an atomic bomb in the second world war for the first time. The most horrible bombs were dropped Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.

I have been living in nagasaki since I was borned. And so,when I was junior school student,we watched movies on the atomic bomb every year on 9th August when the bomb was dropped. I can't forgive the war. But,we should understand the war. We must not forget the memory of the war. Now,we should teach the people in future fear of war.

I hope that the world have no war.IMay all this world be peaceful!

Dear Kamal

I read your essay, and I was impressed by it. I guess you study a lot about history.

Well, how do you think about "the concept of brotherhood"? This question is so simple, but difficult to answer. What's the peaseful world? No war, no weapon, no nuke, no soldiers,,,??It's impossible to remove all kind of force, because many countries have their troops to guard themselves.

I want you to come to Nagasaki or Hirosima to see Atomic bomb museum. My grand mother is one of among many atomic bomb victims. She was within 1.1km from the center of point of bomb fall. 1.1km!! Do you know how many people were killed there? Few people could be alive there. If she died then, I would not write to you. War deprive not only their lives but also their future.

I think it is important to foster mutual understanding among the countries on the earth. How to do it? Grown ups govern each contries. But next, we will do it! So we have to learn how terrible and stupid war is from the orlder generation that has experienced war, and never repeat.

This is my opinion. I'll study about world more and more. So please keep studying and find your way to create peaceful world. I'll do too!!

Sincerely yours

(M. H.)
Prayer for the Peace of the World

In 20 century the world has experienced, starting with two world wars, the ravages of conflict in every part of the world. At the end of the World War ϊA, 11: am, August, 9th 1945, Nagasaki was dropped an atomic bomb by the plane of United States. The bomb that went off 500 meters above the ground became a firestorm, and burned people away. By the firestorm, people were burst, and houses and buildings were destroyed. Invisible radiation destroyed human's cells and brought death to the people in no time. Almost all the victims were children, women, and the old. And it was included Chinese, Korean, and Allied Forces prisoners. People who narrowly escaped death have diseases by the bomb and are scared about death.

We, knowing these miserable conditions, have kept appealing for no-nuclear weapon and everlasting world peace.

Nuclear weapon\it is an instrument that brings annihilation of human beings. But, there are still 30000 nuclear weapons in this world. It is not necessary for us to have nuclear weapons!!

Our own country, Japan, a half century ago inflicted suffering and sorrow upon many countries, particularly those in nearby Asia. But, since that time, we have come to worship peace as we attempt to establish friendships with countries overseas. Peace has given us the freedom to look carefully around us and to consider matters from a deeper and wider viewpoint.

The young, like us, have not experienced wars at all have to learn folly of wars and awfulness of nuclear weapons. And we have to cooperate with other countries overseas.

You know the word, "Mother Earth". We are all big family! In this world, there are many countries, many languages, and many races. It may seem like that there is no common denominator. But, I think, the prayer for the peace of the world is common prayer. So, we have to concentrate and attempt to find concrete answers. We have to seek to establish how the forces for the preservation of peace must deal with those who threaten peace. We have to consider what each individual resident should do.

(M. K.)
The second world war brought a great loss all over the worldD Japan was dropped atomic bomb twice( Hiroshima and Nagasaki) in August 1945 by U.S.AD The destructive power of this bomb is very great , many people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were badly wound and lost their livesD

After that ,Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allied PowersDJapan pledged to renounce war and military power so that we would not repeat tragedy of warsDSince then, Japan has passed peaceful lifeD

But many people of various countries are afflicting with civil war nowDAnd in these countries, a lot of land mines are burying DMany innocent citizens suffered a great loss because of land mines which buried indiscriminatelyDIt cost great expenses to remove these land mines , so removal works of land mines don't progress very muchDAdd to this, removal works are short of handD

To remove land mines , fund-raising campaign are carrying out in various countriesDI hope that all land mines are removed as soon as possibleD

But the other hand ,several countries are carrying out a nuclear testDAs you know, the destructive power of nuclear bombs and weapons are tremendousDThe use of nuclear weapons and bomb may bring about casualty more than The world warDSo, we have to appeal to these nuclear power for the abolition of nuclear weaponsDAnd we must make the world with no nuclear weaponsD

To realize a real permanent peace and safety is a mutual wish of peopleDIn order to make peaceful world, we should help each otherDWe can't make peaceful world without cooperation of people DI hope to realize peaceful world with no weapons as soon as possibleD

To Sigdel,

Hi, I read your letter in my class. Now, we study about Nepal, so your letter was very interesting to me! When I read your letter, First of all, I was surprised at your knowledge.

Japanese students also study about the history of wars, but most of them study for exams, so they don't have much consciousness about world wars and don't have more chance to think about world peace. Twice a year, Japanese people think deeply about wars and world peace. The days are 6th and 9th in August. Yes, atomic bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Now I go to Nagasaki University and I have been in Nagasaki since last year. Living in Nagasaki, we can see some old places where remind of wars. A lot of people who come to Nagasaki visit these places. In Memorial museum of bombs, we can see various pictures during wars. It was so cruel, dreadful and disastrous. We can feel how cruel the war is, and we can think what the war means and what the peace are.

Well...now, what's going? Everything is all right? I'd like to introduce my dairy life. As you know, I live alone to go to college, so I do everything. If I'm hungry, I can buy some cooked food at nearest convenience store (this shop opens all day long and sells everything, foods, pens, and magazines, even shampoos!) If my clothes are dirty, washing machine makes my clothes clean! Many convenient things surround me and it is usual for me since I was born.

Maybe you say Japan is too rich. However, people in Japan don't notice it at all. People are also forgetting past tragedy. Though our lives are rich, we can't achieve our true happiness. I think that the road for world peace is created by such consciousness of people in the whole world. As you said, World experienced very sad incident, so we have to learn from it and improve our international relationships. The most important thing I feel is communicating. Communication can make good relationships. Good relationships can make our mind widely opened and respect each customs. It leads mutual understanding!
Thank you again your letter. Now, I began to study about Nepal, so I still don't know your country very well. So I'll study and I want to understand each customs. So, I'd like you to know about Japan, too. Please learn about Japan. And let's communicate together!!

(N. N.)
Hello! I read your letter in my class. I agree to your thought.

Even though they live in different parts of world, people who want peace have similar ways of thinking.

These days, the Japanese tend to forget the wars. So, there are even some people who say that Japan had better have an army for itself. Fortunately, I have never experienced any wars or any battles. Though I learned them only in history class, I can understand how wars are cruel, and make people miserable. Besides, Japan was done extensive damage by atomic bombs, the greatest destroyer. Nevertheless, why do we need to get ready to go to war ourselves?

I think that peace is more than just no war. I guess that peace is a situation that all people can live calmly, believing what one wants to believe and loving what one wants to love. The battles caused by differences of religion can't solve easily. So the peace I think doesn't realize soon. But, as a country damaged by atomic bombs, I propose that all countries are willing to part with nuclear weapons.
Today, powerful nuclear seems to be able to destroy not only a country but also a few ones. If all countries part with only a weapon, we can live more calmly.

Sincerely yours,

(R. H.)
Dear sigdel

When I read your letter, I admired your mind. If I were you, I won't have mind like you. I won't think deeply about the war. I won't know about organization to prevent war and dispute. In fact, I don't know deeply about it. And I don't think about other countries. I want to know my country and I must do it.

I learned world histories in my junior high school and high school. So I intended to know the fear of war. But I didn't feel that peace was not natural. I have been happy since I was born. I am accustomed to rich life.
I must think about the present peace and I must thank the present happy. I thought you think about world peace, and what is needed in the world? When I think it, it needs consideration. How do you think? You didn't say in this letter. So I don't what you think, but you surely will think like me.

When I learned a little the organization of preventing our world. I don't know about the United Nations well, but it works for preventing war as well as SAARC. I didn't know anything about it and I was ashamed of myself.

I knew SAARC by your letter. I found that I am interested in the world, but I don't try to know about histories, financials, customs and the present condition of other countries. On the contrary I can't explain even my country. I must learn custom, history, financial, social condition and politic of Japan. And then I must learn other countries.

I was born and grew in Nagasaki , and I listened the story about the World War ‡U from my grandmother , uncle , aunt and my teacher in my childhood. Nagasaki is one of the cities, which suffered terrible pains from the war. I listened and watched videos about the war many times. People in Nagasaki and Hiroshima experienced terrible and sad things. And other countries suffered too. Many people around the world have been injured by the war. I thought that wars brought only too much pain to many people, that is war itself had no meaning. Now, We have happiness on financial and social condition. But we don't have really happiness on mind. So We (Japanese) must improve our mind. We must thank and keep our peace. And we must look over our happiness and our life again. Then we must spread the world peace. After I read your letter, I thought about my mind again. I want to know about my country and other countries. And I want to work for many people whose are in difficulty.

(R. Y.)
I read your document about first and Second World War or world peace. You wrote first and second wars are very miserable. But war hasn't finished in this world. Through we know that world peace is very important, it hasn't came true yet. These problems aren't all problem, I think. There are also global poverty, illness, hunger and so on. Why have these problems taken place? I suppose that it is lack of mutual understanding and cooperation. Certainly global organization has established. But global organization must be more effective. And we effort to know each culture, custom, religion, etc. If we can carry out, world peace comes true, I think.

(S. Y.)

First of all, I was very interested in your composition. There were many things that I didn't know before. I am very pleased to know about the new things and thanks to you giving me these knowledge.

I lived in Nagasaki. As you know, Nagasaki is the city where an atomic bomb was dropped. Many people were dead and wounded. About 56years has passed, a lot of people are still suffering from physical and mental diseases.

I am not living in the war condition, so I really don't know how was it like. We take the peaceful environment for granted. But it is not. How many wars and battles had happened? How many innocent people had killed? How many sorrows did the mankind have experienced? How many things had deprived? --- Before the people get the peace.

We must thanks to this peace and never forget the tragedy of wars. We must think how to maintain peace more seriously.

There are still some countries doing the wars. There are still innocents who are killed. We have to think about them and find out the way to live in peace. Of course, to stop the wars is not easy and I don't know the way to do it. So the people in the world must talk together how to do it.

I wish all the people in the world have peace. The day like that will come soon---.

Hello!! My name is Yoko Kawano. I'm a university student of Japan. I'm very interested in foreign countries, and Nepal is one of them. Why do I have great interest in foreign countries? Because I like to see culture gap. What is usual in one country is unusual in other countries. For example, in Japan we usually bring a rice bowl to our mouths at meals. But it is rude in Korea, our neighbor. There are a lot of differences in the world. It's amazing and exciting.

By the way, I read your letter, "WORLD PEACE FOR 21st CENTURY". At first, I thought your English is very good. I must learn more so that I can be able to use English as well as you. And you know about many wars very well.Do you like history?
In your letter, you said that we should develop brotherhood in order to maintain world peace. I think so too. But I also think we must abolish nuclear and arms from the earth. We will be able to get the real peace when the all of them are disappeared. As long as there are arms, we can't live in peace.

Though there are weapons in this world, we seem to maintain world peace. But all the people on the earth don't live in peace.
Some people are suffering from internal conflicts or starvation. Because of them, many people are dying now. They haven't got peace yet. And we must not only see them. We should do something for them.

What can we do? In Japan as a charity, collecting money from the people is famous. The collected money is sent for poor countries, but it isn't necessarily distributed to poor people. It is often used for public enterprises. For example, if an airport is constructed there, rich people will use it. But for poor people it won't be useful.

We must change such a situation so that they can get enough assistance. Government can be said to give wrong assistance to poor countries. So we should not leave politics only to politicians, and ask them for right assistance.
When all the people on the earth wish for true peace and act to get it, it will come true. I'm looking forward to your letter. Please tell me about Nepal. @

I know my mother country, Japan experienced wars, and some were started by it. I can't believe such a thing because I live in peaceful today, but there were. We must know the truth, what we, Japanese did. Without doing that, we can't live at peace, truly. I think we have to compensate for the countries and people that were badly hurt then.

Mr. Kamal Sigdel knows about world history well. He got his ideas into shape on his essay. I think it is possible for him to understand what to do for peace.

Hallo. I am a university student in Japan. I read your composition wWORLD PEACE FOR ‚Q‚Pst CENTURYx. Your composition taught me many things. For example, I did not know the existence of SAARC.
Although I am learning about Nepal in class, I don't know about Nepal well. I want to know about Nepal more.

We haven't experience war.
Only we can do is to hear, watch videos and photos and learn about it. But this is very happy. Have you ever seen the film of war?
Experiencing war is very terrible. War is miserable. War is cruel. War makes no sense.

I live in Nagasaki. Have you ever heard NagasakiH I think you have. Nagasaki had experienced the tragic of atomic bomb.
Living in Nagasaki is big chance to learn about wars and atomic bomb. There is the atomic bomb museum in Nagasaki, and which tells us tragic atomic bomb's footprint. We can see a clock stopped at 11:02am (atomic bomb had dropped at 11:02am.),broken grasses and bricks, many miserable photos and so on.

When I read your composition, I surprised. Though you are younger than I, I think you have sound opinion. And your opinion is similar to mine.
Peaceful world created by living creatures. We have to make and keep the peace of this world. And we must not repeat war.
I'm praying peace.
