Peace is the first thing most of the people in the world want. Peace is the power which brings happiness and harmony behind it. No wonder why everyone wants it. Peace brings comfort to life driving away all the sufferings, pains and anxieties. It is the greatest of all power, even though it seems to be helpless, weak and ruined against wars and battles. There is a saying "Never judge a look by its look." This means, what looks from outside may not be the reality. That is the case with war and peace. War seems to overtake and ruin peace as we see it. But in reality, the thing is just the opposite. Wars can only cause destructions, whereas peace constructions. Where wars destroy human lives, peace helps them to rehabilitate. A famous writer has said, "Protector is more powerful than a destroyer." Even if wars and battles occur at their top, peace will ruin them and save the beautiful world and its people. Peace is that much important to life without which people cannot even sleep properly. When war was born, it was sittered by the wrongdoers, and to stop it, peace was born off as angels. When war was adding poison to human lives, peace came along and granted nectar to them and thus protected them. This shows that wars are the curses whereas peace is the boon which the world has received. We may even think that wars have no right to exist. These are not needed and are absolutely rubbish and useless. That's true. But what is the use of peace without wars. That is just like the values and use of the police in a place with no criminals at all. Whatsoever, both war and peace are existing and will live forever. This means, war will always happen as they have been happening since so long. And peace will arrive to check them out. This is the importance of peace. For many reasons, wars have happened. But some wars caused real destructions to the world causing a great threat. They are the 1st and 2nd World Wars. These world wars were fought between most of the nations of the world and the least were able to get out of it.

The 1st World War started in 1914 A. D. Before these too, wars had occurred but they were all limited in geographical regions. But this war was fought between major powers of the world. Only 14 nations managed to get away. So, it was called the 1st World War. In this war 84 billion US $ was spent and 10 million people died.

In that age, many nations were newly organised and governments were formed. These nations tried to develop a lot, increase and expand their territories. To do this they tried to conquer their neighboring countries. So, the neighboring countries too, answered them and the small wars occurred which gradually enlarged into the shape of the 1st World War.

The result of this war was really tragic. Because of the staunch nationalism, many new nations such as Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia etc were formed leaving many people homeless. Due to war, many nations gradually became poorer and poorer. Democracy wasn't thought to be good in those times. So, the restrained uniparty rule came into play. The inhabitants were ruined and troubled as people of Nepal were done for 104 years under the Rana regime. Even the thought of the then autocracy threatens and shakes us, think how the people had felt and thought! Also as the government began taking various taxes to make the nation as before, economically people were made helpless. Due to these reasons, the 2nd World War is taken as a threatening event which wouldn't like to be remembered. The reasons for this war to happen were various but the important one was the situation of the time. Then, the people were interested in becoming more and more powerful and rich. In doing so, they never thought of the people alike them over whom they were ruling. As the people grew ruder and ruder, these problems occurred. The world gradually became more and more horrible and terrible place to live in. So the people became feeling unsafe and unsecured. Thus, war caused destructions in the world.

But that wasn't the all to be. As time passed, only after 18 years in 1943, 3rd September, the 2nd World War started when Germany attacked on Poland. From that, one of the small wars, the big one took place.

As Japan grew successful in the 1st World War, it became keen to fight this one too and became more powerful and richer. Germany had become poorer than before in the 1st World War, thus it tried to take part and conquer its past state risking its very existence under the rule of Great Hitler.

But everything was opposite to happen. When Japan was to become more powerful, it was badly crushed by U.S.A. When Japan attacked over U.S.A., it in return bombed two important cities Nagasaki and Hiroshima by 2 atom bombs named Fat Man and Little Boy, due to which lots of people lost their lives. Germany grew more and more powerful because of the great diplomat and worrier Hitler. France, U.K. and U.S.A. later adopted democracy.

According to a treaty held, Japan had to leave Korea, Formosa, Pescadores, Kurile and Sakhalin. Besides, U.S.A. was allowed to establish its army camp in Japan to see that Japan did not break peace again.

A point to be noticed is "No matter 1st and 2nd World Wars caused tragedy at any scale, they were stopped at last by peace, the greatest of all the powers." As we know, U.S.A. was against wars, so the president of U.S.A., Wilson reported his plan through 14 points to stop fightings between two or more than two nations. Thus presidents, prime ministers of many countries signed it. Even if it did not succeed in the early years, it grew powerful gradually and helped to organise peace. If it had not been organised, the world would have faced world wars inviting large destruction. U.N.O. has played a great role to establish peace between the nations of the world.

In the same way, many other organisations have been formed to establish peace in the world.

It means peace has great value and is very important to make progress and to be civilized. But still many countries such as Zaire, Tanzania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Iraq etc are plunged in war. In these nations, peace has been broken and the result is on the screen. People of these nations are dying everyday of hunger and diseases. These countries are growing poorer as much money from the nation's budget goes in these. Therefore, in the 21st Century, peace has become very very important.

Today Nobel Prize is given to peace makers. Why? Just because they make the world understand the value of peace and know what can happen if peace lacks in the world. Great personalities like Gautam Bhddha, Mahatma Gahdhi etc are known to be great contributors of peace. Peace has the power to make life happier which is very much necessary in this busy era.

Thus, peace carries a great prospect and value in the 21st Century without which human civilization cannot flourish.
